How do I use required / excluded keywords?

When you enter a word or phrase in Required keywords (in Project Settings) you’re basically telling Brand24 to find mentions containing BOTH the main keyword AND required keyword(s). Each word / phrase that you enter in the Required keywords field should be separated by commas.

When you enter a word or phrase in the Excluded keywords field, you’re telling Brand24 to find mentions containing the main keyword which DO NOT contain your excluded keyword(s). Each word / phrase that you enter in the Excluded keywords field should be separated with a comma.

Example:

Using Ryanair as your keyword and England as your Required keyword would collect only mentions which contain both of these keywords.

And here’s a setup that collects only Ryanair mentions without the keyword England. As you can see, Ryanair is your keyword and England is your Excluded keyword.

You can combine the two by using them together. This setup would allow you to collect mentions of  Ryanair containing the word Ireland where the word England is not present. In this case, Ryanair is your keyword, Ireland is your Required keyword and England is your Excluded Keyword.
