Not seeing any mentions in your project? Don’t worry—it’s a common issue and usually easy to fix! The most frequent reason is an overly strict or incorrect keyword setup.

How Brand24 Finds Mentions

Brand24 detects mentions based on the keywords you define. If your keywords are too narrow or complex, you might unintentionally filter out valuable results. A well-balanced setup helps ensure you're capturing relevant mentions without losing important data.

Start with a Simple Setup

Here’s what we recommend:

  • Begin with a basic phrase (e.g., nike, @nike, #justdoit)

  • Once you see results, fine-tune your project by adding:

    • Required keywords (e.g., must include "shoes")

    • Excluded keywords (e.g., ignore "car", "river")

Tip: Avoid using too many advanced filters right from the start—they can limit your reach.

Quick Troubleshooting Checklist

  • Use simple, broad keywords first

  • Include branded hashtags for social media

  • Avoid overusing required/excluded keywords

  • Check if the mentions exist manually (on Google, Instagram, etc.)

  • Confirm your project time range includes recent data

  • For Instagram: ensure hashtags are relevant and the account is connected

Missing Instagram Mentions?

If you're specifically missing mentions from Instagram, here are a few things to check:

  1. Hashtag Only: Instagram only allows tracking of public hashtag mentions. Are you using valid hashtags as keywords (e.g., #YourBrandName)?

  2. No Tag Tracking: Mentions without hashtags won’t appear unless your Instagram account is tagged in them.

  3. Account Connections: Ensure your IG Business account is connected to Brand24 correctly.
