Step-by-step tutorial on Facebook Integration

  • Old Mentions Tab

Start your integration by clicking on the 'Activate' button (highlighted in blue) below either the Facebook or Instagram category.

  • New Mentions Tab

The integration process is quite similar if you want to view the mentions tab in a new way. What is different is the placement of integration bars. Those can be found in the bottom right corner of your home page. Click on the ‘Connect’ button (highlighted in green) below either the Facebook or Instagram category.

Upon clicking, you'll be directed to our Facebook & Instagram integration settings page.

Now click on the big blue button shown above (Connect Facebook and/or Instagram Account(s)).

To integrate Facebook and Instagram, both accounts must be business accounts connected to each other, and you must be the admin, whether you want to track your own brand or competitors.

When you select this option, a pop-up will appear (you may need to disable your Adblocker). If you're not logged in, you'll be prompted to do so.

Make sure you have admin access to both the Instagram and Facebook pages and that the Instagram account is a Business or Creator account. If you need help switching your account type.

Before connecting, ensure:

  • You have admin access to the company's Facebook account linked to the Instagram account.

  • All necessary consents are accepted.

Once you've accepted these permissions and clicked 'OK,' you'll be informed of your successful integration with Brand24:

And you will be greeted with this message:

Returning to your Facebook and Instagram integrations homepage, you'll notice that your account has been successfully integrated (as shown below).

Facebook monitoring

It allows you to collect posts (including status updates) and links published by a specific page or by others on this page.

'Your sources' integration for Facebook

To start collecting mentions for a specific project, visit the projects list.

Click on 'Edit' to enter your project's settings.

and select 'Facebook and Instagram Sources'.

In the "Facebook Sources" section, please select the Facebook Page you want to use to collect public mentions. You can only choose the integrated profiles here.

You will be informed that the Facebook Page was successfully added.

Next, decide on what kind of data you want to collect:

Adding 'public pages' for Facebook

Once you've successfully integrated a Facebook account and selected it as a source for your project, you can add additional pages to track. Keep in mind that these pages must be public fan pages.

If the link you provide isn't for a public fan page, you'll receive a notification:

Set the settings just as you did when you added the source:

Instagram monitoring

Instagram hashtag monitoring

Activate hashtag monitoring to collect public Instagram photos and videos that use a specific hashtag.

You'll also capture posts where your profile is tagged, even if no hashtag is used. Just make sure to tick the box:

Important note: The Instagram API allows you to track up to 30 unique hashtags per connected Instagram account. To track more, you can connect additional Instagram accounts to increase this limit.

Instagram Profile Monitoring

Add the Instagram profiles you want to monitor. You only need to add a profile once, and we’ll track its mentions across all projects and accounts. Only mentions that match your keywords will be included in your projects. The list below is for reference only—removing a profile from the list won’t remove it from the system.

And you're all set! Now, visit the "Mentions Tab" to access collected mentions.

Can I remove an existing integration?

Of course! You can remove an existing integration at any time by visiting our Facebook & Instagram Integration settings (which can be found via your Account Settings) or clicking on the 'plug-in' icon in the top right corner.

Click on the 'bin' icon next to the integration you want to be removed.

You can also remove the integration in your Business Integrations section in your Facebook account settings.
